Genel Energy has inked an agreement to contract Parker’s Drilling rig for the QD-2 well, Pipeline Oil and Gas Magazine reported.
Civil construction works for the well pad and camp are now underway, and the well is on track to spud in H1 2020.
Genel currently estimates unrisked gross mean resources at Qara Dagh to be c.200 MMbbls.
The QD-2 well, located in the Qara Dagh field in Iraqi Kurdistan, will be used to test the structural crest 10 kilometers (km) to the north-west of the QD-1 well.
The Parker-269 rig has been contracted to drill the QD-2 well.
It is worth observing that Genel Energy owns a 40% working interest in the Qara Dagh field along with operatorship.
