Iraq to Increase Southern Ports’ Crude Exports

Karim Hattab, Iraq’s Deputy Oil Minister for Distribution Affairs, stated that the country will work on increasing crude oil export capacity from its southern ports.

Hattab noted that the current export capacity is 3.5 million barrels per day (mmbbl/d) and that the ministry will plans to almost double the amount to reach 6 mmbbl/d. He added that the increased capacity would take place after 2023 and that the plan includes building 24 storage tanks.
