Iran to Reduce NG Air Pollutants by 70%

Iran will reduce air pollutants produced from the natural gas industry by 70% during the upcoming three years, Teharan Times reported quoting Gholamreza Bahman-Nia, Head of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department.

Nia added that the state managed to cut about 180 million tons of air pollutants during the previous Iranian calendar year ended on March 20. He added that his company has set out long-term programs for protecting the environment and to achieve the world standard in environment protection, especially in South Pars region.

Nia also emphasized the positive impact of developing natural gas supply on reducing air pollutants, considering it as the cleanest fossil fuel motivating the companies’ directors to exert more efforts in such filed.
