Infinity Power to Build 200 MW Wind Farm in Ras Ghareb

Infinity Power, Africa’s largest renewable energy company, signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with POWERCHINA Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited (HDEC) to develop a 200 megawatt (MW) wind farm in the Ras Ghareb region of Egypt’s Gulf of Suez.

The project is a flagship initiative under Egypt’s renewable energy program, part of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development-led Energy Pillar of the Nexus Water-Food-Energy (NWFE) initiative.

Once completed, the wind farm is expected to supply clean electricity to over 300,000 homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 400,000 tons annually, according to Infinity Power’s statement.

“We continue to make strong progress towards our 2030 capacity target, and this project marks another important milestone in that journey,” said Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Co-Founder and Chairman of Infinity Power. “It shows that large-scale renewable projects in Africa are becoming a reality on the ground.”

Infinity Power is a joint venture between Infinity and Masdar, with an existing operational portfolio of 1.3 GW across Egypt, South Africa, and Senegal. The company aims to operate 10 GW of renewable energy across Africa by 2030, supplying approximately 12 million homes.

HDEC is a major Chinese construction company. It provides engineering services in hydropower, new energy, and urban construction in multiple countries, including the UAE, Indonesia, and Kenya, among others.

Supporting Egypt’s renewable targets, the Ministry of Electricity signed cost-sharing agreements with 24 renewable energy companies for a feed-in tariff program backing solar and wind developments.

In 2025, ACWA Power signed a $2.3 billion, 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for a landmark 2 GW wind project. EETC also signed with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to construct a 500 MW wind power plant in the Gulf of Suez, highlighting Egypt’s expanding renewable energy landscape.
