Gunmen Attack Libya’s NOC HQ in Tripoli

Armed militants have reportedly attacked the headquarters of the Libyan National Oil Company (NOC) in Tripoli resulting in several casualties, a security official told Reuters.

Two gunmen were killed and at least 10 staff were wounded in the attack, officials said.

This is the first time that the management of the country’s state oil company has been targeted.

No claim of who was behind the attack has been made as of yet. Tripoli has been subject to multiple attacks since the start of September, involving both rival armed groups and militant factions.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on the national election offices in Tripoli in May.
