General Electric to Support Egypt’s Sustainability, Emissions Reduction Efforts

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with General Electric’s (GE) Chief Sustainability Officer Roger Martella to discuss sustainability and emissions reduction cooperation within the framework of COP 27, which will be held this November in the resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

The meeting reviewed cooperation through the consortium that includes Enppi, Petrojet, General Electric, Baker Hughes and Bechtel to reduce emissions in oil and gas facilities for sustainable development, in addition to cooperating on carbon capture and storage projects under the framework of providing sustainable fossil fuels.

During the meeting, El Molla stressed the importance of collaboration between the petroleum sector and major international companies to benefit from the expertise and the technologies they can provide.

He added that this will enhance the sector’s ability to identify the best ways to deal efficiently with the goal of achieving sustainability in oil and gas facilities, reducing carbon emissions, and providing traditional fossil fuels in sustainable ways.
