During his speech at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the Forum’s Secretary General Mohamed Hamel, highlighted the importance of constructive dialogue and joint cooperation to face the multiple challenges facing the world, especially in the energy crisis and the successive changes taking place in energy markets, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement.
Hamel stated that the GECF includes 19 countries from four continents and represents 72% of gas exports in the world since its establishment in 2001, pointing out that the total gas consumption represents 23% of the total global consumption of energy, and it is targeted to reach 26% in 2050, as it is a clean fossil fuel and will play a pivotal role in the fair and smooth energy transition towards new and renewable energy.
