The joint efforts exerted by Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, in cooperation with foreign partners in the energy sector, have boosted natural gas production rates and ushered back a high-output phase, Minister Karim Badawi said during a meeting with CEOs and representatives of foreign petroleum, natural gas, petrochemical, and mining companies operating in Egypt.
The Minister noted that the recent period has seen positive progress in the sector, marked by the start of seismic survey operations and exploration obligations assumed under several agreements. Egypt has also equipped and operated several floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) throughout the past few months, enabling it to handle the high-consumption periods in summer without disruptions or load-shedding.
On the petrochemicals sector, Badawi highlighted its strong investment potential, both through existing projects and new partnerships, noting that global companies view it as highly promising. He stressed that the Ministry of Petroleum regards the sector as strategic, ensuring its natural gas needs are fully met to secure sustainable economic returns while taking into account export commitments. The minister concluded by underscoring the importance of strengthening partnerships with foreign counterparts to achieve shared objectives.
He extended an invitation to all partners to take part in the upcoming Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2026), which he described as a pivotal platform for exchanging insights, fostering dialogue, and strengthening cooperation.
Just last week, Minister Badawi engaged in a series of meetings with heads of several international energy companies to attract further foreign investment in Egypt. Aiming to reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub, the meetings were held on the sidelines of the Gastech 2025 Exhibition and Conference in Milan, Italy, and included TotalEnergies and ADNOC Group.
