Gas Output Expected to Reach 6.2 Bcf/d by June 2018

Egypt’s gas production is expected to reach 6.2 billion cubic feet per day (cf/d) by the end of the fical year next June, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, told Reuters. The country currently produces 5.2 billion cf/d of gas.

Egypt plans to achieve self-suffiency in gas output by 2018 following three major gas discoveries. The main one is Eni’s Zohr gas field, which was discovered by the Italian company in 2015 and is estimated to hold as much as 850 billion cubic feet of gas.
