France’s Technip Energies in Talks to Launch JV with Enppi and PETROJET

Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held talks with high-level representatives from Technip Energies, a global leader in energy transition technologies, to finalize the executive steps for establishing a joint venture (JV) with Egypt’s Enppi and the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (PETROJET).

The strategic alliance aims to execute major engineering and contracting projects both within Egypt and across international markets, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).

During the meeting, Badawi emphasized that the partnership is designed to create a flexible entity capable of delivering Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services with high efficiency and a maximized local component.

Moreover, he added that this collaboration would bolster the Egyptian petroleum sector’s added value and support Egypt’s status as a regional energy hub by executing non-traditional, high-impact projects.

Marco Villa, Senior Advisor to the CEO of Technip Energies, outlined the core pillars of the alliance, including the transfer of advanced technologies and the integration of local assets from Enppi and PETROJET.

Furthermore, the partnership will facilitate access to financing solutions from international credit institutions.

The delegation highlighted that the new company will serve as a platform for integrating AI applications into project execution and training and qualifying young Egyptian engineers to compete in international tenders, particularly in the Arab region and Africa.

The meeting addressed the timeline for the legal establishment of the company, which is targeted for completion by the end of June 2026. Both parties agreed on selecting a “model project” to serve as a launchpad for the JV, providing it with the necessary pre-qualification for global competition.

Potential fields for this pilot include: sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), modern refining complexes, and styrene projects.

The meeting was attended by senior industry leaders, including Salah Abdel Kerim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC); Waleed Lotfy, Chairman of PETROJET; and Khaled Ibrahim, Chairman of Enppi.

Technip Energies is a French-based engineering and technology company, specializing in high-value sectors such as LNG, hydrogen, and sustainable chemistry. The company serves as the main contractor for landmark projects in Egypt, including the MIDOR Refinery expansion in Alexandria and the ANOPC Hydrocracking Complex in Assiut.
