Fertiglobe, HINT.CO GmbH’s Seal Renewable Ammonia Supply Contract

Fertiglobe has announced the finalization of a green ammonia offtake contract with HINT.CO GmbH.

“We are excited to announce the official signing of Fertiglobe and HINT.CO GmbH’s landmark contract for the supply of renewable ammonia from our facilities in Egypt to the European Union (EU) following Fertiglobe’s recent selection as the winning bidder in H2Global Foundation’s pilot auction,” the company said.

Fertiglobe is committed to delivering an initial up to 19,500 tons of renewable ammonia, with the first shipments scheduled for 2027, contingent on production and supply conditions. This project represents a significant step forward in expanding the European renewable ammonia market, playing a crucial role in advancing efforts to decarbonize the region’s energy landscape.

This comes as in July 2024, Fertiglobe had been named winning bidder based on financial and extensive technical criteria in first-of-its-kind ‘double-auction’ mechanism, for a contract value of up to €397 million, securing supply of renewable ammonia out of Egypt at a delivered price of €1,000 per ton until 2033.

“This award marks a significant milestone for Fertiglobe in advancing sustainable ammonia production and a further critical step towards FID of Egypt Green Hydrogen, expected in H1 2025,” Ahmed El-Hoshy, Chief Executive Officer of Fertiglobe, stated in July.
