Director-General for Energy at the European Commission Ditte Juul Jørgensen stated that Egypt has great potential for renewable energy that can be used and expanded.
She noted that there are periodical meetings to set a work path and attract investments in green hydrogen production projects in Egypt.
Her remarks came during a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla on the sidelines of Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2024.
During their meeting, the two parties discussed means of cooperation in the energy transition and emissions reduction. El Molla affirmed that European Union (EU) is a strategic partner to Egypt in several vital projects.
He highlighted the importance of the financial support from EU as well as from the international financial organization to accelerate the implementation of emission reduction projects. Also, the meeting tackled the necessity of setting roadmap for implementing global methane pledge’s projects in oil and gas with Egypt.
