The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM)’s CEO, Mohamed Safaan, reported to the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, that the Ethydco complex has successfully produced and supplied ethylene and derivatives to the local market and exported excess following the technology of global Univision Company. The complex is the third of its kind to use such technology, reported Ahram Gate.
Additionally, Ethydco produced polyethylene, which is being used in pipelines carrying natural gas, water, and wastewater. The project will help in achieving the ministry’s strategy to maximize added value on petroleum products, in addition to curbing high USD costs of imports, reported Al Masry Al Youm. In addition, the complex will provide polyethylene to Petrojet Company to help in the company’s pipelines in Zohr development project.
In related news, Egypt Oil&Gas reported that Sidi Keriri Petrochemicals Company (Sidpec) intended to export 70% of its polyethylene that is produced at its new Ethydco facility, in cooperation with the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) and ECHEM.
