EOG’s Digital Transformation Roundtable Convenes Industry Leaders to Accelerate Oil & Gas Digitalization

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla inaugurated the roundtable meeting titled “Digital Transformation: Accelerating Efficiency in Oil & Gas Operations.” The event was organized by Egypt Oil & Gas Group and technically prepared by the Egypt Oil & Gas Committee.

The roundtable witnessed the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), the heads of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), the top IT leaders and digitalization experts in the petroleum sector, the managers of major international oil companies in Egypt, and the companies providing digital solutions.

The roundtable reviewed progress in implementing digital transformation strategies in the oil and gas sector through the sector development and modernization project and the most important goals and next steps on this path.

El Molla confirmed in his speech at the opening of the roundtable that the petroleum sector’s adoption of an integrated strategy for development and modernization that includes an important program for digital transformation and the introduction of advanced technologies has yielded great results and has contributed in recent years to the success of the sector’s efforts to attract new major international companies to work in Egypt and pump investments. This is to increase exploration for gas and oil and take advantage of Egypt’s capabilities to become a regional center for energy trading and commerce.

The Minister highlighted the importance of the cooperation between the petroleum sector and its partners from international companies and digital solution providers at this stage in adapting modern technologies in priority areas such as new exploratory activities to search for gas and oil, in parallel with benefiting from brownfields that require advanced technologies and attracting more investments and new companies in these fields through the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG).

On the sidelines of the round table, El Molla handed over several awards for excellence in the field of digital transformation, to companies including EGPC, EGAS, Enppi, SLB, Halliburton, Huawei, SAP, IBM, and HP.
