Energean has completed the removal of the Kilmar and Garrow platforms from the Southern North Sea, transporting more than 3,500 tonnes of steel to the Netherlands for dismantling, reuse and recycling.

The decommissioning campaign recorded zero lost-time injuries and environmental incidents and stayed within budget while meeting all regulatory commitments, according to the company.

Energean said months of engineering, planning and teamwork supported the campaign, which forms part of its work to manage assets across their full lifecycle. The company will next remove the Wenlock platform, with the work planned for later this year.

The UK North Sea work comes as Energean continues to reshape its international portfolio. In March 2025, the company said it remained committed to completing the sale of its Egypt, Italy and Croatia portfolio to Carlyle International Energy Partners despite delays in securing regulatory approvals.

The transaction, announced in August 2024, required regulatory and antitrust approvals in Italy, Egypt and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa. Energean said some approvals remained outstanding ahead of the March 20, 2025, long-stop date and that it had not reached an agreement with Carlyle to extend it.
