President Abdel Fattah EL Sisi praised recent natural gas achievements that can help Egypt to achieve its development targets.
Egypt was importing quantities of natural gas at around $2 billion per month, and this figure was likely to rise to $10 billion at current prices, had it not been for the discovery of the Zohr field, which enabled the state to achieve self-sufficiency in gas, El Sisi stated.
El Sisi’s remarks came during the opening session of Egypt’s Economic Conference 2022, which started on October 23rd in the New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo.
The President also referred to the demarcation of the borders between Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus on the Mediterranean Sea, as well as Egypt and Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea as providing an opportunity for oil companies to start exploration work.
