President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has highlighted the remarkable role of the Zohr field for Egypt in generating electricity throughout the past years.

This statement was made during the ceremony to launch the marine units of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA).

El Sisi explained that the monthly cost of natural gas amounts to $2 billion, noting that without Zohr, importing natural gas would involve monthly costs of up to $24 billion.

El Sisi also noted that Europe is facing a difficult time in getting natural gas in light of the global oil crisis. In addition, the president thanked Gulf countries for supporting Egypt in securing oil and gas at low costs.
