Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla met with a high level delegation from WorleyParsons, the global engineering consultancy company.
This delegation included Amru Alabidi, Senior Vice President of the company for North Africa, Oman, the Emirates and Iraq, Ibrahim Ahmed, the representative of the company in Egypt, Alexey Krasnev, Director of Project Consulting, and Fadi Shabaneh, Senior Business Development Manager.
The meeting discussed the progress of the projects for which the global company provides engineering consultancy, feasibility studies and operational safety during the implementation period, including the project for the production of diesel and petroleum products at the complex of the Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC). It also includes the project to develop the coke complex and diesel production at the Suez Refinery, in addition to several projects in the field of petrochemicals, in partnership with Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and its subsidiaries.
El Molla confirmed that the petroleum sector is currently implementing several important strategic projects in the fields of refining and petrochemicals, aiming to increase the production capacity of petroleum products, expand value-added industries, and achieve the maximum possible benefit from Egypt’s natural resources, in parallel with working to reduce carbon emissions. in the various sector activities.
The minister added that the COP27 Climate Summit, which Egypt hosted last year, witnessed the announcement of several important initiatives and projects to reduce carbon emissions in the petroleum sector.
For his part, Alabidi highlighted the company’s support to the important projects that Egypt is currently implementing and its endeavor to transform Egypt into a center of excellence in the company’s various operations by benefiting from the pivotal role that Egypt plays in the region, the distinguished capabilities it possesses and its strategic geographical location.
Alabidi pointed out the system of integration and interdependence between the countries of the region, which the Egyptian oil sector has succeeded in establishing in the oil and gas industry in the region, has stimulated various international companies to pump investments and carry out operations in an expanded manner in the region.
Moreover, Alabidi pointed to the presence of a large delegation of the company’s experts in the field of green energy in Egypt to contribute to the implementation of projects to reduce emissions and capture and store carbon and benefit from it, emphasizing the company’s pride in its participation in the green transformation efforts in Egypt.
