On the sidelines of the Gastech Exhibition and Conference 2022, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with several chairmen of international oil companies (IOCs) to explore available opportunities for cooperation in the petroleum sector.
These meetings affirm the minister’s interest to cooperate with international partners who desire to invest in oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) in Egypt as well as in the field of energy transition and emissions reduction.
El Molla has met with Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, to discuss the existing projects with the company, especially in the fields of carbon emission reduction and energy efficiency in the oil and gas industry in addition to flare gas recovery projects within the refinery companies.
In another separate meeting, El Molla met with Cederic Cremers, Executive Vice President LNG at Shell, in which they reviewed the company’s operations in its concession areas in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea as well as its future plans in Egypt.
Moreover, El Molla has met with Mike Wirth, CEO of Chevron, tackling cooperation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the light of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Chevron and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to develop the infrastructure which allows natural gas transportation from East Mediterranean to Egypt.
In a meeting with Marco Alvera, CEO of Tree Energy Solutions (TES), El Molla discussed the available opportunities for cooperation during the upcoming period in hydrogen and neutral carbon energy production.
