Egypt Joins Global Leaders at Saudi Arabia’s Mining Summit

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has participated as a representative of Egypt in the opening of the International Mining Conference and Exhibition in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in its third edition.

The conference was held under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and in the presence of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Energy; Bandar Alkhorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources; mining ministers; leaders of mining investment at the world level; and heads of major mining companies from 145 countries. It witnessed the participation of 250 speakers including many officials, experts, and investment leaders.

The conference, which is considered one of the most important global platforms for the mining sector, discusses the future of this sector, its needs, the challenges it faces, and the emerging changes while proposing solutions to them.

In its new edition, the conference is concerned with the issues of supply and demand for the minerals most commonly used to secure the world’s needs for green energy transformation, through a platform for discussion between metal-producing and consuming countries, and ensuring continuity of investment in the sector, starting with mines, manufacturing, refining and processing operations.

Additionally, it tackles dealing with various challenges in financing, infrastructure, and logistics operations.

The conference and the accompanying exhibition support the adoption of technologies to create a more efficient and environmentally friendly environment and mining activity and will work to develop a roadmap to transform the discussions taking place in its sessions and activities into applicable initiatives, especially since the mining sector is facing increasing demand for minerals in general, and for the minerals needed to achieve a shift towards green and renewable energy in particular.
