El Molla, Reed Review Weatherford’s Business in Egypt

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met Weatheford’s Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer David Reed to discuss the company’s activities in Egypt and its efforts to expand its business during the coming period.

This came after Weatherford won a partnership with Enppi in an international bid round offered by Khalda Petroleum Company to digitalize 100 wells and link it automatically to the different sites of the company in the Western Desert.

During the meeting, El Molla highlighted that the petroleum sector is open to various international companies that can contribute their unique expertise and new technologies in drilling, production, field services, and digitalization.

He highlighted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ (MoPMR) strategy focuses on digitalization of drilling and exploration activities which can enhance both operational efficiency and production.

In the meeting, Reed delivered a presentation on Weatherford’s business in the use of horizontal drilling equipment installation technology in a number of brownfields to sustain production for a longer time which has been already done in some fields of the PetroBakr and Badr El Din Petroleum (Bapetco) companies.

Additionally, he expressed his company’s desire to continue maximizing its business in Egypt.
