El Molla Issues New Coronavirus Measures

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, announced new instructions that will be applied after Egypt had eased precautionary measurements taken to combat coronavirus, according to a press release.

The ministry decided to keep granting exceptional vacations for those who are suffering from chronic disease, which will be reviewed every two weeks. Additionally, vacations for the employees who dealt with infected people will be given according to a medical recommendation. The vacation for female employees who take care of children aged less than 12 years or with special needs will be extended and fully paid.

Moreover, the ministry decided to organize the working hours for the employees working in other governorates and minimize their attendance. The workforce in the headquarters should not exceed 50%, while others continue to work from home.

Work shifts will be continued in the fields every 14 days to minimize the number of assistant workers as much as possible while taking precautionary measures. Furthermore, the ministry said that the precautionary measures will continue to be applied with the needed sanitization tools and thermometers.

Any exempt employee will not have his salary or bonuses affected. The emergency rooms should continue to follow up on the sites and a gradual plan should be put in phases to return back to the normal working days.

Moreover, the ministry decided to postpone all the official missions, trainings and travelling abroad. The training courses will be presented from distance and organized by OGS and Petrosafe companies.
