The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, has inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion in PDAC, the World’s Premier Mineral Exploration and Mining Convention held in Canada, according to a press release.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Egyptian Ambassador to Canada, Ahmed Abu Zeid; the Deputy Minister for Mineral Resources Affairs, Alaa Khashab; the Board Directors’ Chairman of Chamber of Petroleum and Mining in the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), Tamer Abubakr; the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) Head, Osama Farouk; in addition to the members of the Egyptian delegation who participated in the event.
El Molla showcased the new Egyptian model and reforms for developing the mining sector to improve the investment climate in this vital sector. He referred to Egypt’s goal to attract international companies and investors to boost the Gross National Production (GNP).
El Molla also noted that Egypt started taking steps in that regard through updating the Mineral Resources Law in accordance with the global investment systems and facilitating the procedures for investors.
He further emphasized that an international bid round will be launched by mid March, which will be the first after the law’s modifications.
