El Molla Confers Boosting Cooperation with Baker Hughes in Low-Carbon Projects, Energy Efficiency

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with a delegation from Baker Hughes to discuss how to boost cooperation especially in establishing low-carbon projects and enhancing energy efficiency utilization, a press release issued by the ministry stated.

The delegation comprised Tameer Nasser, the Director and General Manager of Baker Hughes in Egypt & Sudan and Matt Amrstrong, the Vice President, Global Government Affairs at Baker Hughes

During the meeting, the parties also reviewed the progress of implementing the two agreements they signed in EGYPS 2022. One of them was for cooperation in flare gas recovery and carbon emissions reduction, while the other was for cooperation in building projects aiming to reduce emissions at oil and gas sites.

El Molla affirmed that the petroleum sector has intensified its efforts to set initiatives and establish projects in cooperation with international partners to support emissions reduction, with Egypt being the host of COP 27. He also emphasized implementing an initiative for providing energy transition training programs to the youth and middle management through the Modernization project.

For his part, Nasser elaborated that a consortium that consists of Baker Hughes, General Electric, Bechtel, Petrojet and Enppi has conducted studies on several petroleum working sites to determine the best for building low-carbon projects. He confirmed his company’s commitment to conducting training programs for youth in several fields.
