Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla participated in a closed ministerial panel discussion on the climate action pathway from the COP 26 climate conference to COP 27 set to take place in 2022.
The meeting took place in the presence of ministers and representatives of the energy sector from African, Asian and European countries. During the session, industry leaders shared views on the future of energy in light of the increasing concerns about the phenomenon of climate change.
In addition, countries proposed different strategies and policies that would help in aligning with the sustainability agenda and planning towards COP 27.
During the discussion, El Molla emphasized that Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, in collaboration with the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, has made remarkable progress in achieving Egypt’s environmental goals that align with Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030. He also referred to the active participation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in COP 26 and the choice of Egypt to host the upcoming conference.
