Egypt’s Oil Minister, Tarek El Molla, attended Petroleum Health, Safety, and Environment Protection Workshop to review the processes and technologies that the international oil companies (IOCs) use, the ministry informed Egypt Oil&Gas in a press release.
The workshop aims to ensure safety of employees, equipment, and facilities in the exploration processes and production. The minister stated that reviewing the expertise of IOCs helps the sector to develop its safety procedures and standards. There is a special committee assigned to arrange with IOCs, joint ventures, EGPC, and holding companies assigned to achieve targeted safety levels and attract investments into this area.
During the workshop, IOCs’ CEOs from ENI, Shell, BP, and Apache as well as CEOs of Petrobel, Badr El Din Petroleum Company (BAPETCo), and Petroject presented the safety strategy they follow. The CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and CEOs of holding companies attended the workshop.
Minister El Molla announced that the workshop will be held annually as a part of the ministry’s strategy aimed at the development and modernization of the oil and gas sector until the fiscal year 2020/2021.
