El Molla: ADIPEC Continues Global Dialogue on Emissions Reduction

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla said that Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) is continuing the global dialogue about emissions reduction especially after Egypt has made its oil and gas industry a primary partner in implementing decarbonization solutions during COP 27.

El Molla pointed out that fossil fuels, especially natural gas, will play a crucial role during the transition into green energy period in maintaining energy security and achieving sustainability in the industry as well. 

Additionally, the minister said that Egypt has put fossil fuels on its track for carbon emissions reduction by working on energy efficiency, rationalizing consumption, flare gas reuse projects, and initiatives to use natural gas as clean fuel for transportation. This is in addition to using the latest technologies in carbon capture and storage ( CCS).

El Molla said that during his participation in ADIPEC Exhibition and Conference hosted in Abu Dhabi under the theme “Decarbonizing Faster Together”.

The minister added that COP 28, expected to be held in UAE by the end of November, will boost the importance of the current edition of ADIPEC. He added that it comprises a huge crowd of countries, officials, investors and industry experts to achieve cooperation in resolving challenges towards enhancing investment in carbon reduction and finding innovative solutions in this field.

The opening ceremony witnessed main ministerial panel discussion under the slogan “Decarbonizing Faster Together” featuring the participation of Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure in UAE; Alparslan Bayrakta, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources; Sebastian Burduja , Romanian Minister of Energy and Haitham Al Ghais, the General Secretary of OPEC.

On the same context, El Molla toured the Egyptian pavilion in ADIPEC exhibition and  listened to an explanation from the sector representatives at the exhibition about the role of pavilion in shedding light on cooperation and investment opportunities in the Egyptian oil and gas industry as well as the promising and new opportunities for entering strategic partnerships.

He stressed that the ADIPEC exhibition is an opportunity to showcase new investments in the Egyptian oil and gas sector in the fields of exploration and petrochemicals, as well as to promote Egyptian companies to implement oil and gas infrastructure projects, such as Petrojet and Enppi.
