On the sidelines of the Mediterranean Offshore Conference (MOC), currently held in Alexandria, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi witnessed the signing of four memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and cooperation agreements between the Petroleum Sector and international partners.

The agreements included a cooperation agreement between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the Greek company DESFA. The agreement aims at studying carbon capture and storage technologies, and it was signed by EGAS Chairman, Yassin Mohamed; and DESFA CEO Maria Rita Galli.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was sealed between the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) and DESFA. The MoU aims at enhancing cooperation in the field of natural gas and hydrogen transportation, carbon capture and transferring, sustainable energy and its re-storage between Egypt and Greece. This MoU was signed by GASCO Chairman Yasser Salah El Din and Galli.

Another MoU was signed by GASCO and the American Company BakerRisk aiming at enhancing cooperation between the two companies in the fields of operational safety, energy efficiency and decarbonization. The MoU was signed by Salah El Din and Wayne Repich, BakerRisk’s Global Director, Business Development and Marketing.

The last MoU was between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Shell. The MoU aims at training and develop leaders’ development in the field of health, safety and environment in the companies affiliated in cooperation with Shell through Shell Egypt. This MoU was signed by Salah Abdel Kerim, EGPC Chairman, and Dalia ElGabry, Vice President and Country Chair of Shell Egypt.
