Egypt’s LNG Exports Rise by 1.6 bcm in Q4 2020

Egypt’s liquified natural gas (LNG) exports increased by a total of 1.

6 billion cubic meters (bcm) of equivalent natural gas, reaching 17 shipments during Q4 of 2020 compared to six shipments during Q1 of 2020, according to a statement issued by the Cabinet.

The statement said that Egypt’s exports of LNG shipments have reached about eight to nine shipments per month since the beginning of 2021. The statement refuted rumors about decline of Egypt’s LNG exports.

It should be mentioned that the operation of the Damietta LNG plant will enhance Egypt’s ability to export LNG to European markets and to make it a regional energy hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The plant is expected to produce about 4.5 million tons (mmt) of natural gas annually, which will boost  export capacity to 12.5 mmt.
