The Egyptian oil and gas sector is implementing a number of natural gas development projects to increase natural gas production to 8 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) by the end of fiscal year (FY) 2019/20.
The country is implementing 19 projects to produce around 55,000 barrels of condensates, which will help in covering the local market’s demands, sources at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Amwal Al Ghad.
Egypt is currently producing 6.5 bcf/d, some of which are directed to cover local market’s demands and some are directed to petrochemical industries, which will give natural gas a higher value.
Meanwhile, power stations in Egypt account for almost 65% of the country’s total natural gas consumption, an official source at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) previously told Amwal Al Ghad. Power plants are followed by households and factories, the source added.
