The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, announced in an official report sent to Egypt Oil & Gas that the ministry plans to deliver natural gas to 1.2 million residential units during the current fiscal year (FY) 2019/20, adding that the plan witnessed a high implementation rate during the first quarter (Q1) with the support of a governmental initiative to deliver the natural gas to houses for EGP 30 per month over six years.
The report revealed that natural gas was delivered to 306,000 customers between July-September 2019, representing 102% of the outline.
The government has successfully provided 21 new regions with natural gas for the first time from a total of 86 villages and regions during FY 2019/20.
The report pointed out that Q1 of FY 2019/20 has witnessed a hike in the rate of converting cars to run on natural gas, indicating that last September has recorded the highest conversion rate since the initiative started with 4,613 vehicles.
