Sources with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated that the ministry reviewed offers from 9 firms seeking to participate in phase I of the energy purchasing Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) program with the German Consulting Office Fichtner, with offers from five companies being accepted, reported Al Borsa.
The companies that had presented offers for phase I of the FiT are Scates Solar, Infinity Solar, Alef Solar, IRS, Mag, Wenergy, Irena, CTIP, and Fa’as.
The supervising committee of FiT at the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company will form a 4 members committee consisting of members from the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the Ministry of Finance and Fichtner to review the offers one last time before announcing the winning companies. The winners of the tender will be announces at the beginning of January 2017.
In other news, Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohmed Shaker, has appointed First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Mohamed Mousa Omran, to be a temporarily head of the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) after the end of Mohamed Salah El Sobky’s tenure as a head of NREA, Al Borsa further reported.
