Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, visited the infrastructure for receiving, and storing petroleum products and LNG at Sokhna Port, operated by Sumed and Sonker companies.
The tour included visiting the facilities of receiving crude oil and petroleum products, the main control unit, and the new natural gas transferring projects to receive the imported gas at the port then pumping it into the national gas grid, contributing to covering the domestic consumption requirements and the electricity sector as well.
During the tour, Engineer Karim Badawi emphasized that the SUMED company plays an important role due to its facilities, infrastructure, and storage tanks, which the state and the petroleum sector rely on through integrated work in sustaining the stability and securing the supply of petroleum products and natural gas to the local market and the state’s economic sectors, especially the electricity sector.
Badawi directed the necessity of developing proactive plans to ensure 24-hour operational efficiency, and to put in place the necessary procedures and precautions to avoid any problems that might hinder work.
