Egypt, Greece Explore Cooperation in Natural Gas Distribution, Transportation

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with the President of Greece’s Copelouzos Group Dimitrios Copelouzos and the accompanied delegation to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation in the field of natural gas trade, transportation, and distribution.

Talks also touched on the implementation of infrastructure projects between the Egyptian sector and Prometheus Gas company affiliated to the group.

During the meeting, El Molla highlighted that the Egyptian petroleum sector is implementing intensive exploration programs aiming at increasing the reserves of petroleum resources to continue meeting the local needs and provide surplus for the added value industries and exports.

For his part, Copelouzos pointed out that Prometheus Gas is working in natural gas trading and distribution as well as in implementing infrastructure and pipelines projects noting that the strategic relations between Egypt and Greece is historical.

He also stated that the ongoing cooperation with Egypt in the field of oil and gas is an important strategic choice for the future in the light of the attractive investment climate it enjoys and the position it has gained as a regional hub for natural gas.

He indicated that his visit to Egypt comes within the framework of examining the investment opportunities available to implement projects in the field of gas and renewable energy.
