As part of his participation in CERAWeek 2025, Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Steven Kobos, CEO of Excelerate Energy, to explore cooperation in technology and expertise transfer in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
This comes in light of the company’s extensive experience in this field and the availability of distinguished infrastructure represented by the liquefaction plants in Idku and Damietta.
The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation through the provision of floating storage and regasification units, in light of Excelerate Energy’s large fleet of such units, which supports the Ministry’s goals to secure natural gas supplies for the local market.
For his part, Kobos expressed his keenness to provide the required floating regasification units to the Egyptian side, in addition to his aspiration to cooperate with the petroleum sector in LNG trading and commerce projects.
Kobos pointed out the important role of Egyptian liquefaction plants in transporting the region’s gases to European markets, which enhances Egypt’s role as a regional hub for energy trade and handling.
Excelerate Energy is a leading American company in LNG solutions, floating storage, and regasification units.
