Egypt has connected a total of 10.7 million housing units with natural gas up until January 2020, according to a statement by Gas Regions (Regas).
Egypt also plans to replace butane with natural gas to 1.2 million housing units during Fiscal Year (FY) 2019/20, in addition to delivering natural gas to 41 areas in Al Alamein and Marsa Matruh during H2 2019/20. This comes as part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ plan to deliver natural gas across the country.
Regas Head, Hatem Abdel Ghani, said that a protocol valued at EGP 3 billion was signed to deliver natural gas to housing units in Al Alamein; noting that EGP 450 million were allocated for the urgent phases.
The areas covered will include; Ezbet Kafr El-Sheikh, Sadat Palace District, Ezbet El-Salam, District 4K at Al-Zohoor District, and behind Al-Mosheer Hotel in Marsa Matruh. As for Al Alamein, the company will cover; the Beach Tower areas, Downtown Buildings – Al-Momayz Housing, Egypt Housing, the Latin Quarter, Al Alamein International University, Arab Academy, and the entertainment zone areas.
