The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) announced that the installation work of towers and equipment in the Alexandria Refining and Petrochemical Company’s (ANRPC) methanator unit project is now complete.
The equipment and towers were provided by Italy’s ISG, according to the MoPMR’s statement.
The methanator unit is the ANRPC’s latest project, which it contracted to implement with Enppi and Petrojet, with investments of €4.6 million. The unit is set to be responsible for increasing the life of the catalyst used in the production of high-octane gasoline, by extracting carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) from hydrogen, in order to prevent poisoning of the catalyst for the isomer unit.
The unit will save about $3 million, the value of manufacturing the catalyst, in addition to providing the value of recovering the platinum.
This comes within the framework of the directives of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla on the importance of commitment to the implementation of existing projects according to specified timelines.
