Egypt and UAE Strengthen Petroleum Cooperation, Explore Joint Investment Opportunities

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Emiri Diwan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to discuss enhancing petroleum cooperation and exploring investment opportunities that would benefit both countries.. 

During the meeting, Badawi affirmed the strength of the extended relationship between Egypt and UAE, pointing out that the two countries have an advanced infrastructure, especially in the fields of storing and trading oil and petroleum products. 

He noted that there are new expansions being implemented at the Al Hamra petroleum port in the Mediterranean, and there is a possibility for cooperation and integration between the two countries to benefit from these facilities and infrastructure in these fields.

Badawi also stated that Egypt enjoys the presence of international oil companies working in the fields of production and trading of petroleum products, which contributes to accelerating the achievement of cooperation and joint projects in these fields, in addition to contributing to maximizing Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub.

Additionally, the meeting addressed how to leverage expertise and success stories in these fields and provide training for skilled human resources in both countries. He highlighted the successes of Egyptian companies Enppi and Petrojet in designing and executing major projects in the UAE.

Badawi expressed his anticipation of increasing their involvement in implementing new projects in the near future.

Al Dhanhani emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries and building on the successes already achieved in the fields of storage, petroleum trading, and ship supply. He noted that the UAE is home to the second-largest port for storing and trading petroleum products in the world and has advanced infrastructure. Meanwhile, Egypt’s Al Hamra Petroleum Port on the Mediterranean coast is undergoing new expansions. He suggested that both countries could benefit from exchanging expertise in these areas.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to form a joint working team that would be in constant contact to review and study the investment opportunities available in the two countries, and to have a clear organizational path to implement the projects that were agreed upon.
