Egypt and Greece Push Forward on CCS Collaboration: Key Discussions Held at MOC 2024

On the sidelines of the Mediterranean Offshore Conference (MOC) 2024, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Aristotle Tilis Evaliotis, Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Energy, to discuss cooperation on energy and sustainable development.

The meeting focused on collaboration in implementing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability and decarbonization as priorities for the energy industry, alongside efforts to secure energy supplies and resources.

The meeting also addressed the positive results of discussions held between the Badawi and his Greek Counterpart during his recent visit to Cairo in which they agreed to cooperate on CCS field. 

Additionally, the meeting touched on the Greek side’s participation in MOC 2024, which comes within the framework of supporting regional cooperation in the field of energy between Egypt and Greece and benefiting from this exceptional event as a platform to review the developments and challenges witnessed by the oil and gas industry and what can be worked on to unleash the promising potential of gas resources in the Mediterranean region.
