Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is aiming to pump natural gas to 1 m households across 26 governorates during the next Financial Year (FY) 2017-2018 at a cost of EGP 4.2b, Al Shorouk informed.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance has allocated EGP 1.2b in the state budget for FY 2017/2018 in order to connect homes to the national gas grid.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to provide low income citizens with easy loans to cover the cost of connecting their households to the national gas grid.
Moreover, a proposal is being considered in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity in order to support low income citizens, who are unable to pay the cost of delivering natural gas to their homes, so that they will be exempted based on the social research conducted by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
