Egypt, AFD to Sign Technical Support Agreement

The Egyptian government will sign an agreement within the next three weeks with Agence Francaise De Developpement (AFD) to provide technical support for the new gas regulator in Egypt, AFD Egypt Country Director Stéphanie Lanfranchi has said, according to Egypt News.

The coming period will see more cooperation agreements between the French Agency and the Egyptian government, Lanfranchi told Middle East News Agency (MENA), according to Youm7 Newspaper.

Lanfranchi praised Egypt’s achievements over the last four years, especially regarding the major reforms in the natural gas industry.

The household gas connection project, to which the AFD is contributing around $85.24 million, is very important,Lanfranchi pointed out. This is because of its ability to assist the poorest and most disadvantaged neighborhoods in the country.

The project aims to connect around 2.3 million households to the national gas grid until June 2021 in twenty governorates.
