Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla and Frank Hartmann, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cairo, witnessed the signing of a letter of intent (LOI) for cooperation between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the German company Wintershall Dea for cooperation in the field of carbon emissions reduction in the Desouq concession area in which the German company operates.
Through the letter, a set of activities that the two sides can work on in this framework and the necessary investments to achieve this are determined, the ministry said in a statement.
The LOI was signed by Magdy Galal, EGAS’ Chairman, and Sameh Sabry, Managing Director of Wintershall Dea Egypt, in the presence of Mario Mehren, Wintershall Dea’s CEO.
This signing comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, in cooperation with its entities and global partners, and all elements of the Egyptian petroleum system, in the continuous work, through the program to improve production activities, to reduce and control carbon emissions and economic exploitation of flare gas.
