Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian National Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Spain’s Técnicas Reunidas, the ministry said in a statement.
The MoU involves cooperation in emission reduction projects and the transition to clean energy. It was signed by EGAS Chairman Magdy Galal and Técnicas Reunidas Vice President Manuel Alapart.
According to the MoU, the two companies will conduct economic feasibility and technical studies to implement joint projects in hydrogen production as well as carbon capture, use, and storage (CCUS), in addition to energy efficiency and biofuel activities.
The MoU is one of several agreements that will be signed between Egypt and Spain during the visit of the Spanish prime minister and a high-level delegation to Egypt, El Molla stated. He added that the MoU comes within the framework of the efforts exerted by the oil and gas sector to reduce harmful emissions.
