Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) announced that its Al Taweelah alumina refinery commenced its operations, Reuters reported.

The $3.3 billion refinery will have a production capacity of around 2 million tonnes of alumina per year as soon as it is fully operated.

The facility is located in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi, which is next to the deepwater Khalifa Port.
