TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom announced that is has signed a contract with the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) to provide a research reactor in Egypt with nuclear fuel components made of uranium, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The agreement was signed at Atomexpo-2019 International Forum, taking place in Russia.
The uranium will be manufactured from the fuel components produced by Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (NCCP), which is a fabrication facility of TVEL Fuel Company.
The ETRR-2 research reactor is used in various researches in materials engineering, particle physics and production of stable isotopes.
“We consider supplies of nuclear fuel components a prominent market sector for TVEL’s traditional business. Our enterprises are capable of manufacturing any kind of metallic and uranium-made fuel components for power and research reactors of both, Russian and non-Russian design, like ETRR-2,” Oleg Grigoriyev, Senior Vice President for Commerce and International Business at TVEL JSC, commented.
TVEL’s work in Egypt includes supplying nuclear fuel for the future 4,800 megawatts (MW) El Dabaa nuclear power plant.
