Dabaa Commercial Operations to Start by 2026

The proposed El Dabaa nuclear plant will begin commercial operations by 2026, according to the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, Amwal Al Ghad reports.

The plant will contain four nuclear units and be able to produce 4,800 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

Earlier this week, Shaker signed an agreement with Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation to move ahead with plans to construct the El Dabaa plant.

The project will encourage Egyptian industry to produce the high-quality products necessary for the nuclear industry, Shaker said.
