West El-Burullus (WEB) gas field, operated by Cheiron, entered production after the connection of the first wells to the national grid. The tests estimated the production of the field, located offshore the Mediterranean, around 45 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d), according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral
Badawi pointed out that connecting two additional wells in the field is being accelerated, aiming to raise the field’s total production to 75 mmcf/d by the beginning of 2026.
Cheiron Energy operates the field through its joint venture with West El-Burullus Petroleum Company (Petroweb). The development and production were carried out by Modern Drilling Company (MDC), Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (PETROJET), Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), and PICO ENERGY.
The production startup at WEB follows the completion of major offshore installation works by PMS, including the 255-ton PAPYRUS jacket, the 330-ton topside deck, and the WEB platform, which consists of a 345-ton jacket and a 431-ton topside.
