Egypt’s Natural Gas Vehicles Company (Car Gas) plans to increase the number of refueling stations to 200 during fiscal year (FY) 2019/20, a source at the company told Amwal Al Ghad.
Car Gas targets boosting the number of centers transforming more natural gas-powered vehicles, to reach a total of 80 centers by the end of FY 2019/20.
The rate of cars shifting to natural gas increased to 2,500 vehicles per month, the source noted, adding that across Egypt a total of 260,000 vehicles were turned to natural gas-fueled systems by the end of 2018.
The country seeks to replace the usage of diesel, gasoline, and butane with natural gas, in order to decreases dependency on imported fuels.
