Cabinet Approves 13 Oil, Gas Draft Agreements

The Cabinet approved 13 draft petroleum commitment agreements for the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and a number of international companies, in preparation for completing legislative procedures to issue proposed laws related to them.

The approval came during Cabinet meeting No. 227, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The areas affiliated with EGPC that were represented in commitment agreements are within the scope of the Western Desert to search for and exploit oil in the areas west of Wadi El-Natrun, east of Siwa, west of Al-Maghra, west of Abu Al-Ghadeeq, Alam Al-Shawish east, and in the Gulf of Suez in the regions of West Amer and South Lagia.

Meanwhile, according to the agreements, the areas affiliated with EGAS to search for and exploit gas and crude oil include the Mediterranean, in each of the North Fayrouz Offshore, North Rafah Offshore, Thebes Offshore, Bellatrix City East, Northeast Arish, and North Tabiya North.
