Butane production rose to 163,700 tons in August, up 2.5% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) from August 2016, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

More significantly, production jumped 9.5% from the 149,100 tons produced in July.

Consumption of butane rose to 316,900 tons, a 3.2% Y-o-Y increase from the 307,100 tons consumed in August 2016, according to statistics released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). In July, Egypt consumed 308,100 tons.

To fill the gap between production and consumption, Egypt imported 159,700 tons of butane in August, a 4.5% decrease from the 167,200 tons imported in July.
